Can I report holdings without adding my entire portfolio?
No. You can not report selected holdings on the site, Covestor is for those wishing to track and share their complete portfolio. Anyone though is able to add items they are holding to their watch list.
If you want to track your portfolio on the site, go to the Add Portfolio tab within your Fact Sheet Editor.
I have recently joined. Why can't I see the cost basis of the holdings in my portfolio?
Covestor does not reflect your portfolio's performance or trades prior to registration - we hope to add this capability in the coming months. Like a mutual fund we mark to market every day so your performance is being measured consistently with institutional standards from the date you register with Covestor.
The performance of all holdings begins from the date you register using the prior day’s closing price for each position as the starting point.
I use the automatic data import feature. I have executed a trade with my
broker but I can't see it.
All of your long and short equity positions (including ETFs) should appear on your holdings page (we plan to add cash, options, CFDs, bonds, and CD's but these are not currently supported).
If you have just executed the trade with your broker, and are already logged in to Covestor, there is a 20 minute delay before your Covestor account can be refreshed. Log off and log back in to your account for the data to appear. With some brokers there is a delay of circa 24 hours in updating new trades - this is currently true for Tradestation. Check also to see if the trade is in the queue to add to your account by holding your mouse over the (!) on your holdings page.
How do I correct an incorrect position?
If you use the manual trade entry process, use the 'trade entry' form to adjust a position which appears incorrectly in your holdings. You will need to go 'long' or 'short' the difference to correct the position. E.g. if you hold 250 MSFT and your holdings show 300 MSFT you would need to enter a holding short 50 MSFT to correct the position.
Positions published on Covestor using the automatic data import feature cannot be corrected manually on the website. Please Contact Us to notify us of any discrepancies you can see between your broker account and what is reported on Covestor.
Does Covestor support Options?
Covestor currently only supports positions held in equities (long and short), Mutual Funds and ETFs. We do not yet support Cash, Options, Futures, Bonds or Forex.
We plan to add Options shortly. Send us an email if you would like to be notified when these instruments are available.
Why can't I see all of the instruments in my broker account?
All of your long and short equity positions (including ETFs) should appear on your holdings page. We plan to add cash, options, CFDs, bonds and CD's in the future but these are not currently supported.
My holdings are in my account but the performance and risk charts do not
appear.
A number of the charts take time to update depending how long your portfolio has been connected for. The performance charts require two data points and will therefore appear circa 24 hours after your account is activated. Annualized return and risk metrics require a full month's data to calculate.
None of the charts on the site appear to be working.

Why do I see “n/a” on performance returns?
It is likely that you see “n/a” as there is insufficient historic data for the returns to be updated. If you are using the manual entry process, only trades reported on the day you join will begin to build a performance history.
How often are the calculations updated?
Performance and Risk measures are updated each day after market close. All other data is updated in real time.
How is my performance calculated?
The performance calculations are run every night and are calculated for each stock that you own.
On Covestor we use Time Weighted Returns, as the institutions do, and not the Simple Return that your broker displays. In other words we show what someone following you with a fixed amount of money would have made, not how much you yourself may have made. For more information please view our blog post on the topic. For more detail about “What calculations are being used to measure performance,” go to the FAQ.
