Following Other Members

Covestor uniquely offers the opportunity to 'Track' the actual trades of our members. Using Covestor you may find other investors with insight or expertise that you would like to tap. You can instantly overlay their performance over yours and, as a member, by adding them to your “Network” you can access a live feed of their real investment activity.

Building your “Network”

There are a number of ways to find members or investment themes to track:

  • Browse Profiles and Fact Sheets to identify members whose performance and thinking you find compelling.

  • Use Rankings to find top-performing Covestor members in specific stocks, industry sectors, or by overall results.

  • Search for individual Stocks of interest to learn which members hold them, review their commentary, and see how they are rated by their followers.

  • See who’s tracking who and discover who the members you respect are themselves tracking

Email notifications

For members in your Network you can choose to receive live email notification of their real trades, either all of their trades, or only those relating to specific sectors or holdings. Covestor never reveals the size or value of their actual trades so when you start tracking another member you are asked to enter a nominal ‘Tracking Amount’ with which you would like to follow their portfolio. The email notifications you then receive reflect their actual trades but are normalized by Covestor relative to a portfolio of the size you have specified in the ‘Tracking Amount’.

Replicating a portfolio

As above, when you start to track another member you enter a ‘tracking amount’ with which to follow their portfolio. Using the ‘Replicate’ feature you can see, relative to the tracking amount, what holdings you would need to have to replicate that member’s positions and performance. Covestor calculates what you would have earned had you been invested alongside them.

Free of charge

Tracking is free of charge. Over time we will be adding the capability for Members sharing portfolios to be financially rewarded by the followers who invest alongside them.
