Setting Up an Account

Build your Covestor Profile. Once registered a personal profile or ‘Fact Sheet’ will automatically be created. You add the elements that show what kind of investor you are. It is up to you how much you want to disclose on the site:

  • Personal details including your photo, education, interests and background

  • Investment credentials of your focus and style to help match you up to other members of likely interest

  • The rationales for your investment theme(s) and holdings

Select your privacy settings: Choose whether to disclose your real identity, and if sharing a portfolio whether to share your investment record publicly on the web (recommended) or only with other Covestor members.

Arrange for upload of trade data. You have two options, to set your portfolio up for automatic import from your broker or to enter trades manually.

Using the secure import option simply provide the name of your brokerage plus the username and password you use to access your account. Your trade and holdings data will be automatically downloaded, at regular intervals, to update your Covestor account. This secure link operates using the same technology as online banking sites. No personal data (e.g. social security number) is available via this link. (View Privacy Policy)

If entering trades manually you will be required to enter trades as you execute them, using a 'trade entry' form, and to periodically upload your paper brokerage records for verification.

You (and only you) may edit your profile at any time.
