Simply continue trading as normal with your broker

To build your Track Record continue trading as normal in your online broker account. Using the automatic data import, trades are regularly downloaded from your broker account and performance and risk metrics are automatically calculated to build your fact sheet. Using the manual entry process you will need to enter details of your trades on the site.

Each time you execute a trade you will be invited to share the rationale for your position. Covestor will then build you an auditable, time stamped, record of your decisions. Your verified track record begins with the current holdings in your account, so the sooner you add your portfolio to your account the greater head start you will have.

Sharing your Track Record

When you join Covestor we create a Fact Sheet for you, which allows others to understand and track your decisions. It helps to build your reputation by sharing:

  • Your Investment profile – the face you put forward to the Covestor community at large

  • Performance analysis – Risk and Return measurements on your portfolio, as well as performance charting against other members, professional mutual funds and market indices

  • Your Covestor blog – an opportunity for you to share the rationales for the stocks you are watching and holding as well as your view on the markets overall

  • The credibility of your following – those other members who have chosen to track your portfolio. The more you add to your profile and the stronger your track record, the easier it is for other members to find and track you.

Exporting your credibility to your own website:

Covestor provides certification of your membership and performance in the form of “widgets” which you can export to your own stock blog or investment website. These function as a stamp of credibility, verifying your investment holdings and performance. Whether it is your overall Track Record, or a view you are putting forward about an individual stock on your own website, Covestor widgets help to add weight from third party verification.
