My goal is to make disciplined trades. And since the serious profits take place in sustained moves, I’m a trend follower, with a program that automatically generates buy and sell signals. The bad thing about most automatic systems is that sideways markets can cause strings of losses. My filters for range, volume and momentum greatly minimize that problem. The good thing about automatic is that no trade can begin or end without telling me what to do. When it starts, I get on. When it ends, I get off.

I got started trading by reading several dozen books on trading, and by taking a course at the Chicago Board of Trade to become a Commodity Broker.
