Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my blog. I just wanted to take a few moments to give you some background information about myself. I have a science background, but have augmented my financial knowledge by enrolling in the Chartered Financial Analyst program. Currently I am studying for the level 2 examination, having passed the level 1 exam in June of 2008. I believe in having a balanced portfolio in both value and growth stocks. I think my science background has caused me to make decisions based on fact and quantifiable factors, rather than hype or unjustified speculation.

I, like many investors, lost a great deal of money on financial stocks. One in particular that I had fully committed too cost me all of my gains and then some. The reason I'm sharing that tidbit of information is so you will know that I have had firsthand experience to emphasize the importance of diversifying and hedging your investments.

I prefer to stick with shorter term timeframes ranging from intraday to a couple of months. I will add more posts once I have my portfolio started.
