Hi Blaine, thanks for your comments. About my stop, it just happens to be generated by my system, and is not in any sense magical, just a starting point. It could have been closer or further. In my case, the buy point less the initial stop tells me how many points I'm going to risk, and then my $ risk limit, which is currently set at 6/10 of 1% of my total equity, tells me further how many shares to buy ($ risk limit divided by points at risk = total shares). I'm holding 800 shares that I purchased for 30.73. My seat of the pants system said the price was low. CALM earnings excellent. Company aggressive in expansion. I think CALM now controls 18% of the hardshell egg market in the U.S.A. Additionally I love bacon and eggs. I cannot tell a lie.........It was my wife's cooking breakfast that pushed me to purchase.

BTW: The CALM website has excellent egg recipes.

Hi Pablo, Gee, if I'd noticed you already owned CALM, I would have bought twice as much!:). Thanks for the tip about their website. And good luck with this, but I don't think you're going to need it.

CALM is one of those companies that I have difiiculty selling once purchased. 10% div. hard to give up. As a rule of thumb when a company share price increases to a point where it equals 5+ years div. I tend to want to pull the trigger. That would mean the gain above purchase would have to be around $20/sh. That's if I'm in a needy mood. I have the luxury of being able to sit on my losses/gains for the long haul not needing the money in the short run.

I'm envious of your being able to take the long view. In my own situation, I'm going to check out some of those dividend paying stocks that you mention elsewhere today. I had great positions in SKF and SRS but my stops on those got hit yesterday, so for now, I'm just holding the rest of my bear market ETF's, plus a bunch of calls on the top half dozen gold stocks--ABX, AEM, AUY, GG, GOLD, KGC, NEM. This market is getting challenging!

It is easy to do a stock screen for high div. stocks. Many are REIT's and are now down in the dumps. I hold ACAS and will continue to although down over 33%. Obviously some high div stocks are not worth the risk. Here is a list of the 40 top stocks from a research paper I bought. Saftey/growth is factored into the selection. BTW: Remember I was following our friends daytrading. By April he was up about 1200%. By May he stopped trading after losing 650% of prior gains. So much for a reliable system.
