Thoughts for May
Again, April was a huge month for me. I made 15% in the month with a couple nice dividend captures soon to come. Everyone is awaiting this 5-10% pullback, I am buying on the dips. Hedgefunds and Mutual funds have struggled to make money as of late and need to get their money in the game, with that knowledge on any dip people will be buying so I don't forsee a sizeable dip.
As of my holdings, I did a good deal of trading in the month of April.
FCX, Freeport- I bought this stock in the 39 dollar range and have since ridden it to the mid 40's, I do not want to be selling this stock, with copper levels still holding true this stock will see the 50 dollar mark in May.
BP- I bought this stock again in the 41-42 dollar range, this is the cheapest of the big oil refining companies and has the highest dividend of the major ones. The dividend hits in the month of May and I hope to make this one of my core positions for the next the unforseeable future.
EMR, Emerson- I bought this stock at the 32 dollar level and haven't looked back. Emerson is a major play on the Chinese stimulus plan, it reports earnings early in May and also has a dividend that hits in May. I am excited with this stock and am expecting some good pin action on it for earnings and also a bit with the divy date.
NAT, Nordic- I bought this stock when it dipped to 29. This stock again has earnings release early in the month of May and also has a dividend date in May, I expect earnings to fully eclipse and smash the estimated earnings report, doubtful to see 40, but high 30's is a definite possibility.
AEM- This is my hedge against inflation, I like the low debt ratio on this stock and bought on the dips. I did not do enough homework on this one to have bought it, but decided I needed a good gold play.
S, sprint- This is my purely speculative stock. I bought it in the 3.80 mark and have since seen a nice jump in price. Sprint reports earnings early in May and I plan on holding for quite some time.
I also am playing on the houses money with Microsoft and GE, very small amounts with both of these. I am looking for a way to get back into Caterpillar and will be evaluating my positions after each earnings release. I know the saying is sell in May and go away, but those have been very different markets that have brought that saying. This market still has legs but the strides and jumps will be smaller than the past 7 weeks. Best of luck to all.
